2009 Tracking Test: A Summary

TD/TDX Test Weekend – Nov. 7 & 8, 2009
Chuckanut Farm, Bow, WA

I’ve received emails from several of the participants and they all mention how smoothly the Nov. 8 CDTA Tracking Test was run, the nice and friendly people they met, the wonderful tracking conditions.  Of course these emails are all from the people who had dogs that passed, so they might be a bit biased due to their euphoria!  But I happen to agree with them!  It was a great tracking weekend.  Thanks to all who played a part.

Jan Wesen – Test Chairman, Judge’s Caretaker, Cook
Ron and Jan Wesen – Property Owners
Susan Highton – Chief Tracklayer & TDX Tracklayer Driver
Tracy Gorham-Fergusson – TD Tracklayer Driver
Kathy Lawliss – Driver to the Judges
Colleen Pinner – Cross Tracklayer Driver
Charity Marlin, Marian Snapp, Russ Burmester – TDX Tracklayers
Sally Burmester, Michelle Schraeder – Cross Tracklayers
Michele Luther, Megan Anderson, Kathleen Ball, Margaret Jezek, Charity Marlin – TD Tracklayers
Colleen Pinner, Kathi Seaman – Awards
Sally Diess and Craig Green – Judges
Susan’s talented sister – THE Cake!

Having been involved in many tracking tests for many years and having worked in all the different job positions (except property owner!), I can assure you that each and every job was immensely important to the smooth running of the tracking weekend.   Thank you for stepping up and bringing your very best to the plate.  I hope you all will want to play again!

The Stars of the Day, the apples of their people’s eyes, the reasons we sent judges and tracklayers out into Saturday’s stormy weather are:

EUR-AM’S ONYX OF RED ROCK ROAD RA NA NAJ, Bernese Mountain Dog, Georgia Towle & Patty Greeny, handled by Georgia Towle of Chimacum, WA.  New TD!

MACH3 APPLE ACRES GRAHAM SLAM CDX RE HIAsd, Shetland Sheepdog, Bonnie Logen & Graham Logen, handled by Pat Logen of Stanwood, WA.  New TD & VCD2!

TEHILLAH’S FRISCO KID, German Shepherd Dog, K. Ammann, S. Fritzke & L. McIntosh, handled by Karleen Ammann of Aldergrove, BC.  New TD!

CH REGEN’S READY OR NOT CDX TD JH, Weimaraner, Anne Tyson & Judi Voris, handled by Anne Tyson of Snohomish, WA.  New TDX!

Congratualtions to all!

Tracklayers with the stinky feet were Megan Anderson, Kathleen Ball, Margaret Jezek, and Charity Marlin.

Other breeds that were entered and had fun trying were a Golden Retriever, Pointer, Basset Hound, Cocker Spaniel, and Chihuahua.

The judges, Sally Diess (Oregon) and Craig Green (Colorado), were delightful to work with.   This was their second time judging as a team for CDTA, and their last.  Craig is retiring from judging tracking tests and our test was his last judging assignment.  I am so happy that we had such a fine entry of dogs and handlers for Sally and Craig to evaluate.   They gave Craig the best parting gift that the tracking community could ever give to a judge who gave so much to the sport – success in the tracking fields!

Track on!
