Club Meetings

Program for February is My Dog Can Do THAT!

This is a fun game where we divide up into teams and get a chance to show off our dogs’ amazing talents - or not! A card is drawn with a challenging action for a dog, the team on the “hot seat” selects the dog and handler they believe can meet that challenge. The hard part—each dog on the team must be used—no repeat performances. The fun—if the selected dog does NOT meet that challenge, another team may claim “My dog can do that!” and if they do—they get the points for that action! We always have fun with this game, lots of laughs, lots of amazing dogs, so come and join us, bring your dog, your stash of treats and be ready to call out “MY DOG CAN DO THAT!”

General Membership meetings of the club are held on the first Wednesday of each month, September to November and January to May at 7 PM at 1012 E. Hemmi Road, Everson, WA, just off of the Hannegan Road. Bring your canine friend with you. Guests are always welcome.

The annual Awards dinner is held on the first Wednesday of December at a local restaurant.

There is no formal meeting in June, July or August. Anyone is welcome to attend the picnic in August at the address below.

Please contact one of the board members for information on programs throughout the summer.

Nose Work Classes

Don't wait! Check out the K9 Nose Work page for information.

CDTA is now offering Nose Work classes in our class line-up. Nose Work provides a venue for the dogs to use their highly developed sense of smell to find objects with specific scents in a given area. It's a sport where the handler must learn to read what the dog is telling them rather than the dog learning what the handler is telling them.

Classes begin again in January, 2012 in Ferndale, WA. The session includes 8 classes, each of which is one and a half hours in length. Dogs work one at a time and the others are confined while waiting. Each class will enroll 6 dogs.

Interested? Don't wait! Check the K9 NoseWork page for contact information, times, location, and costs.

NOSE WORK
ODOR RECOGNITION TEST (ORT)

It was a great success overall. Congratulations to all the CDTA members whose dogs showed them exactly where that smelly box was located!
