Agility is the ultimate game for you and your dog. It is also one of the most exciting canine sports for spectators. In agility, a dog demonstrates its agile nature and versatility by following cues from the handler through a timed obstacle course. The course has jumps, tunnels, weave poles, and other obstacles. Agility strengthens the bond between dogs and handlers, it is extremely fun, and it provides vigorous exercise for both! (AKC - Agility Overview)

OBEDIENCE CLASSES: C.D.T.A.'s Obedience training program is designed for pet owners who wish to have a well behaved dog. Training provides a way of establishing a system of communication and a solid working relationship between you and your dog. Through training, the dog learns what you expect when a command is given. This relationship establishes you as the leader of the pack and with consistent work, trust and love will grow. Your dog becomes a well behaved companion who is secure in his place beside you.

Flyer for next class is above. Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 5th, 2017.

For further information call (360) 393-7097.

These classes begin each September, January and April.

Puppy Class:  Start things off right in your home with your new friend. This class that will focus on behaviors that will make for a smoother introduction of your new puppy into your home. Socialization with other puppies, recognition of its name, coming when called, sit, etc. will be part of the class.

Basic Class: This is the class for untrained dogs and their people. Learn to teach your dog basic obedience (heel, sit, down, stay, and COME when called! and walking on a loose leash.)

AKC Introduction to Competition and Rally Obedience- see flyer.

  • Are you wondering if Competition Obedience is for you and your dog?
  • Do you have a new dog that is ready to move into the world of competition but isn't quite ready for the "real" novice Obedience titling class?
  • Have you completed basic obedience classes and just want to continue having fun and working with your dog?

Then you might want to consider this class! Using what was learned in the Basic Obedience Class, you and your dog will be introduced to some of the exercises that are used in beginning obedience competitions and learn the fun Rally fundamentals.

Tracking

With a keen sense of smell, 100,000 times stronger than humans, dogs are often used to find lost people and animals, drugs, avalanche and disaster victims, and even to detect cancer. AKC Tracking is a canine sport that demonstrates a dog's natural ability to recognize and follow a scent and is the foundation of canine search and rescue work. Unlike obedience and agility trials, where dogs respond to the owner's commands, in tracking a dog is completely in charge, for only he knows how to use his nose to find and follow the track. (from AKC  - A Beginners Guide for Tracking)

Please see the Tracking page for contact information.

Nose Work

Though similar to tracking, where the dog uses its nose to follow the scent of a person's movements, this sport demonstrates a dog's natural ability to recognize and find specific scents, much like the drug or bomb sniffing dogs do.

Nose Work is perfect for any dog, all ages, fair-weather or foul-weather, firm or infirm. Nose Work is designed to encourage your dog's natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It is a wonderful means to let your dog have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy.

Please see the Nose Work page for details or contact Alecia.
